Fashion: bell sleeves/ 80s flair trend

Bell Sleeves

"Dance the day away with beautiful bell sleeves, by Rosa Fairfield, photographs by Linda Smith"

You know how most people tend to have that one body part which they're insecure about? Well, mine is my bottom/top thigh area. I have to admit, I seriously thought about photoshopping that area in these images... but in the end I decided against it. I wish I could say that's because I'm trying to inspire women to be confident with the bodies they have... but in reality I just couldn't figure out how to do it.

Anyway, moving on, I'm loving bell sleeves right now. They're so cool, right? Like flared pants for your arms. I remember when they were in-style in the 00s. I'd wear sparkly gypsy tops with bell sleeves and go on shopping trips with my school friends. I'm very glad that we now have a much more sophisticated and stylish take on the trend.

Bell sleeves make a statement and you are guaranteed hours of amusement just by waving your arms around. Also, if you want to do a pretend dramatic death scene they really add to the whole effect.

They work great when layered, either with a cut off-sleeve jacket, or a cute dress or top. Also, I recommend wearing them with something tight-fitting to add contrast.

I love this time of year. The BAFTAs, the Oscars... the Grammy Awards. It's my dream to one day attend all of them... and win an Oscar, (I'm not even joking). I'm excited just thinking about it. All the glitz, glamour... tearful acceptance speeches and occasional embarrassing moments. Let's not forget the dresses, which has to be the highlight!

Here are some of my favourite dresses from OKDress UK to get you all excited. (Honestly, I promise they are more than OK).

Number 4 is my dream dress... a beautiful colour and delicate tulle. Although... I do love that red one too, it just screams Hollywood glamour... or how about...  okay I love them all!

Fashion & advice: jacquard coat and spending time alone

NO. 17

1 isn't the loneliest number

"Meal for one? No problem. Why being by yourself isn't something to be feared."

Yesterday was a bit of a bad day so I decided to cheer myself up by going to my favourite burger restaurant. I had a 2 for 1 voucher and no one to share it with so I thought... what the heck, I'll order two burgers.

The waitress that brought over my burgers said, "I'll just put this one over here for when the other person arrives."

I replied, "Actually, they're both for me."

Later that day, I told someone I was going to the cinema. She presumed I was meeting other people there and was shocked to find out I was going on my own. I asked her, "Haven't you ever been to the cinema on your own before?" Her answer was no.

Okay, so maybe I just managed to make myself sound like a complete loner. (I do have friends... I promise I do... I really do.)

My point is that sometimes it's actually really fun to enjoy your own company. Being by yourself shouldn't be something to be ashamed of. If you're always waiting around for someone to do a certain activity with you, you never get to do everything you want to.

Fashion: Wedding Wishlist

Wedding Wishlist

Top picks from MillyBridal for the perfect day, by Rosa Fairfield

I've always wanted to have my very own wedding, (note how I said 'wedding' and not 'marriage'). I've been planning my wedding for as long as I can remember. I want a beautiful dress just like the one Audrey Hepburn wears in funny face, I want to release doves and I want to have a princess ball afterwards. Nowhere in this plan do I mention a partner to actually marry. That's because, if I'm honest, I just want to wear a beautiful wedding dress and have the perfect day without the whole 'sharing your life with someone' part.

Me and my best friend have spent many hours joking that we should just marry each other so we can have the perfect wedding. (In reality it wouldn't be perfect, we would end up arguing over every little detail.)

Mmm... maybe I will just hire an actor to play the part of my significant other? I'm not even joking... keep reading my blog and you might receive an invite to the ceremony.

Fall in love with cities & clothes, not people

New York City is my one true love, find out why it should be yours too, by Rosa Fairfield

A love affair with a person is okay but a love affair with a city is everything. A city will never call you fat, force you to sleep with it or run off with someone it met online after a forty year marriage. New York City is my favourite. I visited the Big Apple last year and it was love at first sight.

I loved it even though it wan't all glamorous SATC brownstones. I loved it even though I almost got crushed by a never ending stream of people charging towards me as I left my hotel. I loved it even though my mother said, 'I don't know why you like this place, there are rubbish bags left on the street'.

I loved New York City because I saw groups of glossy business women shopping in Barneys. I loved it because there was a teeny tiny Marc Jacobs store on a street corner. Most of all, I loved watching the sunset and the buildings begin to sparkle from the Top of the Rock.

So when I saw there was a skirt with a Manhattan skyline printed on it, I knew I had to have it. I wanted it so badly that I ordered it even though they hadn't got my size. (It's one size bigger than I normally take so I'm wearing it lower down on my hips.)

I've talked about my dream of becoming a real life fairytale princess a lot on my blog. That's where my obsession with very pretty, feminine dresses comes from. Sometimes I just visit shops to try on the most beautiful looking dresses... just for fun.

Millybridal UK offer a great selection and most dresses come in a variety of colours. My favourite is the cream two piece. I love its classic design, with the modern twist of it being a two piece. The detail is intricate, subtle and the off-white colour is feminine without being the white you associate with a wedding dress.

I'm seeing so many videos about throwing out 2016's trends. I'm really not that person. I love shopping the new trends each season but I also like to hold on to the pieces I already have, (unless there is something I really regret ordering, in which case it's going straight to the charity shop).

I don't buy or order things unless I absolutely love the piece and my feelings about that item don't change just because it is out of season.

Okay, maybe in a few years time it does. I have many photographs of me in the 00's trends that I am ashamed of, (it really wasn't the best fashion decade).
