A love affair with a person is okay but a love affair with a city is everything. A city will never call you fat, force you to sleep with it or run off with someone it met online after a forty year marriage. New York City is my favourite. I visited the Big Apple last year and it was love at first sight.
I loved it even though it wan't all glamorous SATC brownstones. I loved it even though I almost got crushed by a never ending stream of people charging towards me as I left my hotel. I loved it even though my mother said, 'I don't know why you like this place, there are rubbish bags left on the street'.
I loved New York City because I saw groups of glossy business women shopping in Barneys. I loved it because there was a teeny tiny Marc Jacobs store on a street corner. Most of all, I loved watching the sunset and the buildings begin to sparkle from the Top of the Rock.
So when I saw there was a skirt with a Manhattan skyline printed on it, I knew I had to have it. I wanted it so badly that I ordered it even though they hadn't got my size. (It's one size bigger than I normally take so I'm wearing it lower down on my hips.)
