Tips For Planning A Trip Abroad

While 2020 hasn’t been the best year for travel, 2021 is fast approaching and is the perfect time to make up for lost experiences. Booking a holiday is exciting and something you and your friends or partner can get excited about. No matter what type of holiday you opt for, whether it’s a city break or a beach break, there are a few things you should think about before booking. Below are four different things to think about when going abroad.

Accommodation
Planning your accommodation is great fun and will get you excited about your coming holiday. When it comes to accommodation, there are many options. Depending on your budget you could opt for a 5-star hotel and go all out, or if you are staying for a long period of time you may look into an Airbnb as this could be more affordable. Before booking your accommodation, make sure you read some reviews, checking it’s as good as the pictures look. Alternatively, ask your friends or family for a recommendation as you will know it’s a good place if they have stayed there previously and enjoyed it.

Food and Drink
Most people’s favorite thing about a holiday is being able to eat and drink as much as you want guilt-free. Before booking your trip away, make sure the area you are staying in has some good restaurants that you can dine at and a nice bar to enjoy a drink in. As with your accommodation, it’s worth checking trip advisor first to make sure the places you are going to has good reviews. No matter what you are after from pizza places to a small local, most destinations will cater to all.

Excursions
What will you be doing when you arrive at your destination? City break or beach break, either way, it’s important that you take a look at what things are going on before you arrive. After doing some research you may not want to visit your initial destination as it might now have as many activities to do as you thought at first. Different destinations are good for different things so have a think about what you would like to do beforehand and try to find a place that offers it.

Flights
When it comes to booking your flights don’t just book the first one you see as that may be more expensive. Do some research and explore a few different airline sites to see what prices they offer. Sites like Skyscanner will compare all the flights going out that day and show you the best price. Depending on what day and time you fly you may be able to get better prices. If you book in advance or last minute, this tends to be when prices are at their best.

Insurance
It is important you take out travel insurance when going abroad. Travel insurance ensures that you are protected should anything unfortunate happen before or during your trip away. If for some reason your luggage goes missing, or you miss your flight, you can have peace of mind that you are protected and will not lose out financially.
