5 Things You'll Understand If You Lack Body Confidence

5 things you'll understand:

  If you lack body confidence

"If you're not confident about the way you look, then you have probably experienced these things, by Rosa Fairfield"

Being a personal style blogger, I guess you'd think I'm super confident about the way I look. This is far from the truth, I get super self-conscious. I've been told a million times, "It shouldn't matter what someone looks like, it's what's on the inside that counts." I completely agree with that statement, but that doesn't mean it's easy just to stop caring, it's very difficult to battle insecurities.

Avoiding certain clothing

I try to stay away from tight-fitting trousers and shorts because my bottom and thighs are on the larger side. I was bullied because of my bottom, at school, so maybe that's what caused it.

Having to look at every photograph before anyone sees if, and demanding ten retakes

I really don't like people taking pictures of me, unless I see them first. Last year, a rather bad picture of me was taken at an event and posted to Twitter and I spent a lot of time looking at that picture, which really wasn't good for me.

Constantly having to check your appearance in the mirror

I spend way too much time looking at myself in every mirror I pass, checking to see if my hair is a mess. Once I decided, whilst shopping, to buy a whole new outfit and change into it because I didn't like how my current one looked in the shop mirror.

Not being able to look at yourself in the mirror

This is a massive contradiction to the last one. It really depends on my mood, but sometimes I get really anxious about looking at myself because I'm scared of what I might see.

You've tried to photoshop yourself

Really, I'm not proud of this but I have tried to photoshop myself. Nothing major, normally just my under-eye area.

I know it's tricky, but you just have to learn to love yourself, inside and out. I always try to think of this quote, when I'm feeling insecure:

"For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone."- Audrey Hepburn
