Personal Style & Advice: Reasons To Follow Your Dreams.

SPARKLE. SHINE. NEVER STOP DREAM.

Reasons to follow your dreams:

Last year I had a quarter life crisis. I was working on my blog and acting career but I started to panic. A little voice in my head started screaming, "what if you never make any money, you're never going to be able to support yourself and pay rent." So, I decided to go back to university to study a journalism Masters.

Then in February, when I was completing work experience, I had another mid life crisis, "oh my goodness this is so boring, I can't stand sitting down in an office all day and then going home to bed... there has to be more to life then this... boy, I'm so miserable." That's when I decided to restart my acting career and start my YouTube channel because that's what I was really passionate about. Life is to short so do what you love. I also understand that some people don't have a passion or a dream and that's fine too, you'll either figure it out or realise you have a different non-work related element of your life that brings you all the joy. Anyway, here's why you should follow your dreams:

You owe it to that 10 years old girl
When I was younger becoming an actress was my everything. I used to make my parents take me to auditions. I used to hold my head up high when I told them my dream and they burst out laughing. I used to cry my eyes out if I had any kind of set back with it. Even if you're current dream isn't the same one it was when you were 10. You owe it to that starry eyed girl inside you, with the unwavering belief. I hate the idea that when you reach adulthood you have to stop believing in things... and find more realistic goals.

What else is there?
Most people get 60 to 80 years on this earth. What we do with that time is completely our choice. When I sat down and really thought about it... what else would I do with my future if I didn't case my dreams? In the great scheme of things if I spend the next 40-60 years chasing my dreams and I fail it doesn't really matter because I will have tried and that's the important part and at least I would have spent those years doing something I love.

Do you want a conventional life?
The standard life consists of: education, work, marriage, settle down in a house in the suburbs, children... maybe a divorce etc etc. That's the 'normal' route and if you want that great... but I've never really wanted that. Sure, I want to may want a marriage someday... but that doesn't mean settling down. I'd like to travel the world with my partner and have adventures... I'm a dreamer by nature in all aspects of my life... and if you are a dreamer it makes sense that you follow them.

Too weird to do anything else
This is one very specific to me... but I'm a weirdo. Lots of people think so and this year I've kind of started to see that myself, not in a bad way. I don't like to sit still, I like to be on my feet, dancing and pulling silly faces and I'm a bit quirky. That means I don't 100% fit in with a lot of jobs... in fact I think I'd get sacked from a lot of jobs. Therefore it makes sense that I do some kind of performing, where those attributes are useful.

Final note:

The world is changing... I hear young people saying they are struggling to get jobs because they haven't got enough experience and older people complaining that they are struggling for work because companies want to hire young people. Well, that's a bit of a juxtaposition. See, I think the problem is that a lot of jobs just aren't there anymore. That's because the world is changing... certain industries are being made redundant in a technology advanced world so people are having to find new ways of making money.

  1. HELL YES GIRLLL!!! Absolutely adored this post from start to finish. I'm so glad you restarted your acting career and started your Youtube channel, you're 100% right, life is way too short not to live your dreams. I can't understand people who discourage others from living their dreams, our life is ours to live and we owe it to ourselves to follow our own path and make our dreams our destinies.

I'm writing my first novel and running my blog but am about to be looking for some office work as I'm needing the money. I just need to keep in mind that it's not going to be forever and I'll still be working on my dreams no matter what it takes. I related to you so much in this post, especially when you said you've never really wanted the "normal" route. I feel just the same, one of my biggest dreams is to travel the world with my partner too. I can't think of anything worse than the "norm' and I'm so glad our generation is embracing what we want instead of living an unfulfilling life that serves us no purpose <3

  3. As Gary Vaynerchuk says, "You're going to die.." We need to live the life of our dreams otherwise we'll get into he later stage of our lives and literally look back with regret.

  6. Exactly FUCK CONVENTIONALITY. We are freaking mermaids and unicorns so we might as well live life to the fullest. If I had listened to every naysayer out there I would never have followed my dreams so I am glad you followed your heart too x
