I did like Mykonos and I'm very grateful that I got the chance to go there... but I do think there are a couple of things that you need to be aware of before you visit:

1) It is extremely windy

When I went there, I was experiencing 40mph winds. At one point, I was on the beach and grit blew into my face, causing me to have a fat lip. It also meant that I was a little cold at times and had to wear my coat.

2) It's a clubbing holiday

Don't get me wrong, I love a nice cute party with good company and music. I also love the occasional clubbing night because I love to dance. However, I don't drink and i'm not exactly a party animal and there seems to be a big emphasis on that.

3) The beaches are covered in sun loungers

Literally, there wasn't any free space to put down my towel. When I go to the beach I like to sit on the sand. The sun loungers were also very tightly packed together... and the beaches were always busy. I like something that is quieter and off the beaten track.

The good points

1) Watching the sunset

I've always been a fan of sunsets and every night, when I was there, there was one. My favourite place to watch the sunset was Agios Ioannis. It also looked very pretty at night time when all the houses were lit up with tiny sparkling lights.

2) The boat trip

We went on a boat trip, which stopped at an 'undiscovered' beach where we were the only people on it. This felt nice because it was the first time that we got away from all the busy crowds.

3) The bakery

We stopped in Ornos, where there was this super cute bakery that had a lovely selection of breads and cakes. It was called Mykonos bakery. Although, if going there, it is best to go in the morning because they start to run out at the end of the day.

4) The cacti

This place seemed to have so many different varieties of cacti. They came in all different shapes and sizes and some of them were truly remarkable. There was one really super tall one that went way up into the sky. The island also has an awesome barren style landscape that makes you feel like you are in the wild west.

5) Walking around

It is really easy to walk to different places on the island because it is so small... and I do like walking. Although, I think you have to be a little brave to attempt it because there aren't really any paths so you end up having to watch out for cars so you don't get run over.

Overall, I think it was an enjoyable experience... but honestly, I personally don't think it is as great as everyone seems to say it is.

Thanks for reading. Have you ever visited Mykonos?
