Personal Style: How to Style the Cold Shoulder Trend

As the cold shoulder trend is still with us this summer, I've decided to share my top styling tips for pulling off this summer look, by Rosa Fairfield

This is one of my favourite dresses. There are two main reasons for this:

1) It's so darn comfortable
2) It's one of the first cold shoulder dresses I've seen with that is tight-fitting, with a belt around the waist.

COLD SHOULDER STYLING TIPS

It feels like this trend has been around forever and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. Here are my top tips for pulling off the trend:

A SIMPLE NECKLACE
I think it looks best with a simple pendant. With no necklace, the chest area can look too bare and a big beaded necklace can look too bulky. It just needs a little subtle something to set the look off.

CASUAL LA VIBE
When I picture the cold shoulder trend, I think of chilled-out tanned girl wandering around LA. It's got that casual vibe... so don't try and dress this look up too much. If you have a cold shoulder top, wear it with some denim shorts.

SANDALS & A CROSS-BODY BAG
Keeping with that casual, laid-back vibe - wear it with sandals and a small cross-body bag. You can always be a geek and wear socks with sandals, if you are doing a lot of walking, to stop them from rubbing.

THE RUFFLE
I think the cold shoulder trend works best if there is a ruffle along the top seam. It makes a statement and it makes the top look much nicer, otherwise you'd have some weird cheap looking elastic thing going on.

GO BRA-LESS
Free your breasts... It would just look dumb if you could see your bra straps, not to mention the fact that it defeats the whole purpose of the cold shoulder. As long as you are a small enough cup size for it to work, let the girls out... I think it's a whole lot more comfortable. Plus, the big ruffle covers anything you don't want to show.
