Milan, Italy Travel Guide 2017
Dreaming of your next holiday adventure? Then see the highlights from my trip to Milan, alongside my mini guide to the fabulous Italian city.
Photographs and words by Rosa Fairfield

My trip to Milan last week was so good, especially the 38 degree sunshine. Although, It did end with me locked in a toilet at the airport and nearly missing my flight (after much yelling someone came to get me out). People there actually thought I was a local too!
The Lido - I spent a whole day at Lido di Milano. It's easy to reach by Metro (Lotto stop) and great for sunbathing with loungers to rent. Although, if you want to swim in the pool you have a wear a swim cap. I didn't know about this so I had to buy one from the slightly creepy guys who were trying to flirt with me and asking for my number.
Shopping - I really liked it down the street Corso di Porta Ticinese. There were some really nice boutiques, my favourite being: Maison | Mizuma. They had dance music and party lights in the shop, which created such a cool vibe. The shop also had some really cool items, like a bodysuit covered in pom poms.
Also, Via Torino, by Duomo is great for high street shopping. That's were Bath & Body Works is (one of the few that's in Europe). I stocked up on their body lotion, which I'm crazy about.
For designer shopping head to Gallerie Vittorio Emanuele II. I recommend visiting there just to see how pretty it is.
Piazza Gae Aulenti & Bosco Verticale
This was one of the highlights of the trip for me. At Piazza Gae Aulenti you can get the most perfect view of Bosco Verticale (two super cool skyscrapers, which look like a forest). There is also a great view the other side of even more skyscrapers and cool looking buildings. The lighting looks particularly good at dusk.
Wandering Around
I spent most of my time in Milano just wondering around, I think that's how you get a proper feel of the place. What made Milano for me was the amount of scooters parked everywhere and all the bicycles on street corners. Milan felt like a proper working city, with men walking around in smart continental style suits and glamorous looking women.
Gelato
The best Gelato I had was at Venchi. When looking for Gelato, make sure you choose the stuff that is in the metal containers with the lid on. This is the best way of storing it for a great consistency.
Thanks for reading... can I go back to Milan right now please?
