#1 Don't spend a fortune
When I first started blogging, I read so many articles about how expensive blogging is. It doesn't have to be if you are resourceful. People are always saying how you need to spend money on hosting, I use Blogger. It's free and gives me much more freedom than Wordpress where they make you pay for every little add-on. Learn coding so you can design your own site. Email PR's about clothing loans or collaborations, instead of buying lots of things (that's not being 'dis-honest', it's having business sense).
#2 Go to different places, experience things
One of my favourite things about blogging is that it gets me out-and-about, doing fun activities. Look for new and creative ideas for shoots, not just posing in a different outfit next to the same city backdrop. I also love blogs that try and tell a story or make art through their photography, when it's not just all about the outfit.
#3 Celebrate other bloggers and don't be scared to talk about money or followers
It's so easy to compare yourself to others, instead, celebrate their success. In this industry, you need to make connections with people so comment on other bloggers' work in a genuine way. Also, don't be afraid to talk about numbers, be proud of the followers you have and unembarrassed that you would like to grow your following.
I hate this whole, 'bloggers earning money from there blog is bad' way of thinking. It must be the only industry where being a professional is seen as a bad thing. It should be celebrated if a person is good enough at what they do to earn money from it.
#4 If you want to make money, make sure your blog is commercial
Having the figures is one thing, but your blog must also be commercial if you want to make money from it. By that, I mean it must look both visually pleasing and offer people and brands something. Fashion is a good example of this. People search for styling tips and brands want to promote clothing.
#5 Promote, promote, promote
You can have the most fantastic content but if no one sees it then what is the point of it being there? Research SEO, use social media and even start an advertising campaign if you have a budget for that.
